RD023—Sekatan Kapas Light Fabric

Made by pedal loom weavers in Pekalongan, Central Java
From Rp 9.000
Product Story

In a classic chequered pattern, the Sekatan Kapas textile is traditionally woven, revealing its meticulous precision. The pronounced grid lines, carefully measured on the loom, resonate with the Indonesian term sekat, meaning partition or divider. The yarn is structured to form charming small checkers with contrasting different plied yarns—a subtle play on yarn thickness.

Sekatan Kapas offers a range of weights, from the sheer option revealing delicate grids to the heavier option where the texture is felt upon touch. Uncovering these hidden details in the fabric adds an element of surprise for those who come to enjoy the inviting warmth of your home. The base fabric is handwoven by pedal loom weavers in Pak Kadir’s house, Pekalongan.
